Target Audience Interviews

Audio is quite quiet so make sure volume is up really high.

I asked a variety of people questions about thriller films so I would know what would make the most ideal thriller opening sequence. We showed our target audience our questions before hand so it would give them time to think about their answers.

The questions we asked:

 1. Could you please state your age and interests?

 2. What is your favourite thriller film and why?

 3. What is your favourite aspect within a thriller?

4.What characteristics makes a film a thriller for you?

5.Has there been a part in a thriller which has been rememberable to you and why?

6. Do you prefer to watch thrillers where you can predict what the ending is going to be or do you prefer there to be a large plot twist?

7.When watching the opening sequence of a thriller, do you like to see an indication of the film and the characters, and if so why?

8.For legal reasons there needs to be title slates before the film, do you like the titles to be largely seen or more desecrate?

9.We are creating an opening sequence for a thriller, what is the one important element  we should include?

I decided to ask six people in total, three being females and the other three being males. Before filming it showed an indication to me that males were more happier to answer questions about thrillers, as they knew more about the subject and were regular thriller watchers. It showed me that when creating our opening sequence it would be more directed at males aged between 18-25, as they are the ones that enjoy thrillers the most.

 Our target audience helped with how we could shaped our sequence so it got the maximum amount of enjoyment from the viewers. They told me they liked to see title slates before the film and also for there to be a massive plot twist.

I deiced to ask the target audience 'we are creating an opening sequence for a thriller, what is the one important element we should include.' from asking this it helped as i now know it would be a good idea to add music, find a good atmosphere and also have an element of suspense and drama to keep our audience in treed with what is going on on screen.  

We must add:

• Dramatic music
• Have a good atmosphere
• Suspense 
• Plot twist
• Show the character and a bit of a story about them
• Dark lighting
